How To Determine Flood Risk
In the search field enter the street address of the property and press
the ENTER key.
The red cross hair shows the point you searched. It may be placed on
the street in front of the property. To assist in finding an accurate zone
determination, you can click and drag the crosshair to the structure. This
updates the latitude and longitude and can change the flood zone determination.
Shading also assists in risk assessment. Different shades represent
different flood zones and they are labeled right on the map. If a structure
touches the shaded area labeled Zone AE or Zone V, then the whole structure
will be considered at high risk of flooding. If the structure is entirely
outside those two zones, the property will be considered Zone X - a minimal
flood hazard designation where lenders typically don't require flood insurance.
To search another address click on the words "FLOOD QUOTE" located on the
blue band under our logo at the top of the page. This will clear your search
and allow you to search for a new address.
Not all addresses are searchable. FEMA is in the process of replacing
paper maps with digital maps. If your search produces a flood zone
"NM: unmapped risk" that does not mean the property is not in a flood zone.
Rather it means we don't have a digital flood insurance rate map for that
address. Please give us a call and we'll look the property up on our paper maps.
